The
Future Network produces carefully targeted specialist magazines

visit. Today Future publish more than 80 magazines and over
30 magazine websites and networks from offices in five countries.
The company also licenses 32 of its titles resulting in over
60 local editions in a further 23 countries.

Future Publishing's Strategy
People

Future Publishing - History
At
the beginning
- In
1985 Future was founded in the UK . Today 80 magazines
worldwide are published and Future has extensive online
activities also.
- June
1, 1985: Future Publishing is founded by Chris Anderson.
Amstrad Action is Future's very first magazine.
- By
October 1986, Future's turnover is approximately £440,000.
The company relocates to Bath in May 1987.
- In
June 1987, PC Plus is first British magazine to covermount
a computer diskette every month.
- Autumn
1988 - Greg Ingham joins as publisher.
Future becomes Britain's leading publisher of newsstand
computer magazines by end of 1989.
- In
1990, Commodore Format is launched, ensuring Future has
a magazine dedicated to every major home computer format.
Recent
History
- August
2001 John Bowman is appointed Group Finance Director with
effect from November 16. Bowman joins from Scottish Radio
Holdings plc, where he has been Group Finance Director
since 1994.
- September
2001 Future announces its interim results for the six
months ended 30 June 2001. Alongside his role as COO,
Colin Morrison is appointed Managing Director of Future
UK. Roger Parry is appointed Non-executive Chairman, while
Chris Anderson becomes Non-executive Director.
Following the presentation of its interim results, Future
announces a proposed refinancing of the company through
a 6 for 5 Rights Issue.
Imagine Media, the Future Network's US subsidiary, launches
the American version of the Official Xbox Magazine - the
officially licensed publication for Microsoft's next-generation
games console.
- October
2001 Future holds an extraordinary general meeting, at
which the resolution in relation to the 6 for 5 Rights
Issue is duly passed.
The UK arm of the Future Network, Future Publishing, launches
DeckMaster, a monthly publication aimed at players of
collectable card games.
