What does Online Shopping with WHSmith involve?

To shop online you need to create an account with WHSmith - this is a simple process whereby you tell them some basic details, principally your name and address (so WHSmith can send your purchases to you) and your Credit Card details (so WHSmith can charge you for them!)

You can then browse the WHSmith website or use the Search facility to find products you wish to buy, which you place in your "Shopping Basket". This is simply a list of products you have selected for purchase. Placing items in your Shopping Basket does not commit you to buying them - you can always remove items later.

If you decide you would like to buy the contents of your Shopping Basket, you proceed to the Checkout area of the site where you can confirm your order.

Your selected products are then posted to your home. You are not actually charged for any products until they have been dispatched to you.

How to Place an Order on the WHSmith website

To order a product from WHSmith online you will first need to have an account with them. Information about setting up an account can be found in the How to Create an Account section of Help, found on their website.

You can then browse the site for products of interest, and next to each product you will have the option of adding it to your Shopping Basket. This is a list of products you are interested in buying. Adding a product to your Shopping Basket does not commit you to buying it - you can always remove it later. Once you have placed one or more items in your Shopping Basket, you can then press the "Checkout" button to proceed with the purchase. Here you will enter their Secure Server - all information will be transmitted in an encrypted format which can only be read by WHSmith.

In the Checkout you can check over your account details and then confirm your order. An e-mail will be sent to you summarizing each order you place. Your orders will then be packaged and posted to you. You will not be charged for any order until it is about to be posted to you.

After placing an order you can check on its progress using the Account Maintenance page. Here you can also cancel orders so long as they have not yet been invoiced or dispatched to you.

If you are unhappy with any products you receive from WHSmith, you can return them to them and be given a refund so long as certain criteria are met - see the Returns page, found on their website for full details.
